Josue, called "Pipo", is the youngest of five children, and came to Amigos with two of his brothers, Joel Enrique and Juan Carlos. His father died of AIDS, which affects approximately 1.8% of the Honduran population. After his father’s death Pipo and his brothers spent much time on the streets, struggling to get by as his mother was occupied by an intense drug addiction that turned fatal in October 2007. Before arriving at Amigos in July 2004, the boys were in Nueva Esperanza – New Hope – another orphanage in western Honduras. A typical thirteen-year-old, Pipo loves to draw and hang out and play. Pipo is amazingly bright and talented, and (atypically of a thirteen-year-old!) he loves to study and do his homework. He has been known to start studying for final exams (which take place in November in Honduras) in MAY!
