There are many individuals, talents, personalities, senses of humor, and gifts that allow Amigos de Jesús to operate on-site in Honduras. At our orphanage we have a staff of more than thirty native Hondurans, as well as a handful of dedicated North Americans, who are the glue that holds our home together.
Ubil, our Development Director, is the backbone of all we do and are; he has been a part of the Amigos community since its very conception, and the boys at the home are just as much his children as his own biological son, Edgar, and daughter, Cecilia. Read more about Ubil here.
Amy & Wilson Escoto, our Directors of Operations, are a vital influence on the children's everyday well-being. The unique couple is a perfect blend of Honduran and American traditions and along with their son, Thomas, live and breathe Amigos de Jesús. Read more about Amy & Wilson here.
Our Padrinos are Honduran couples who serve as parents for our boys. They live at the home, take our boys to doctors' appointments, help them with their homework, discipline them, care for them when they are sick, teach them what is right and wrong, offer them love and support, and ultimately create as healthy an environment as possible.
There are a multitude of other individuals who work tirelessly to make sure the home runs smoothly on a daily basis. These talented persons run our general management, accounting department, woodshop, school, agricultural department, and kitchen. This group of more than 30 Honduran people operate as a team; they are committed and determined, hard-working, loving and all operate with the same understanding that all we do is for the children.
