#20years20lessons Lesson #9 ~ Perla*

Perla* was the first girl to join our Amigos de Jesús family back in 2012. She is spunky, intelligent, and a loyal friend. She also has a loving relationship with her two brothers who live at the 'hogar.' Read Perla's lesson below:

I have learned to share and to be nice. One time, I had a toy car, and Julian* wanted to use it, and I shared with him.  Before coming to Amigos, I didn’t know how to share but the directors have shared what they know about being respectful.

The first time I came here I was really little, only four years old. Thomas really wanted to get to know me—he was excited to meet me and he said, “Perla, let’s play!” and I started to play ball with him and from then on we were friends. He shared his friendship with me.

On vacation with my older brother, he said to me, “Where would you like to be?” And I told him I wanted to be at Amigos, in my ‘hogar,’ because here I have learned many things, like to be tolerant and respectful. I have learned from my friends, my brothers here with me, and the directors. I learned about what people like and what people don’t like, and that we can tell one another the truth and that we can learn to live together.
