The family of Amigos de Jesús and the Sisters of the Redeemer shared a day of faith and community at a one-day Christmas Retreat on December 28, 2018.
The retreat took place at the Spark Transformation Center at Holy Redeemer in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.
Led by Fr. Patricio Lynch and Sr. Anne Marie Haas, the theme for this special retreat was “The Sanctuary is Among Us to Bring Healing to the World.”
As Fr. Lynch discussed, we as Christians do not need to look “out there” for sanctuary. Rather, that sanctuary is already inside of each and every one of us, waiting for us to invite others in to heal and transform.
Fr. Lynch’s reflection on the retreat:
Each time the Amigos de Jesús community gathers in prayer and reflection, we experience our mission statement.
Feeling that we are a family, the awareness of a strong presence of God among us – the Sanctuary – the gift of receiving healing, transformation, and hope.
All this has happened during our last retreat at Holy Redeemer as well as at Amigos’ first-ever Gala in Argentina in November 2018. Our family shared the same experience, the same spirit, the same values.
Is it a coincidence? Obviously not. We are receiving a spiritual gift from God, a “charism” to be embraced and shared with others.
Amigos de Jesús is not just a nonprofit. It is a true family grounded in prayer and in service to vulnerable children. I feel grateful to God for this calling to be part of Amigos de Jesus’ spirituality.
Many of the 40+ retreatants shared their own thoughts about sanctuary throughout the day.
They spoke of being grateful for the opportunity to gather at this busy time of year in the beautiful physical sanctuary of Holy Redeemer’s grounds and chapel.
The retreatants also gave thanks to God for our blessings and to pray for the children of Amigos de Jesús in Honduras.
Special thank you to the Sisters of the Redeemer for hosting this wonderful retreat!
