Genevieve first came to Amigos de Jesus as a visitor in 2013, returning as a volunteer in 2015, and then again as staff in 2017. With a Master’s in Education and an extensive background in education and human services she brings vast skills and experience to our family. Genevieve finds ways to keep us organized among the constant chaos that comes with raising so many children. She takes on projects that would not get done without her persistence and work ethic and is a loving and consistent presence in the life of the children, staff and volunteers. Originally from West Virginia, she now plans for Amigos de Jesus to be home for years to come.
What do you like about Amigos de Jesus?
I love that the children and young people make everyone feel welcome in their home. Once you’ve come to Amigos, you are considered part of the family. Love overflows here. There is always room at the table.
What have you learned at Amigos de Jesus?
That each of us is enough in and of ourselves. Jesus’s words “unless you become like the little children you will never enter the kingdom of God” have taken on a new meaning. The kingdom of God is here, living and working with these children and young people.
