Savanah Prigge, 2016-2017 volunteer

Graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in food science and a minor in mathematics.

Before arriving at Amigos, I was a college student. I’m from a small town in Idaho and enjoy spending time with family, playing volleyball, teaching swimming lessons, hiking, reading, and traveling.

Motivation for coming to Amigos

I’ve been a practicing Catholic my entire life, and as my faith matured during college, I felt called to give of myself in a year of service. I’ve always been interested in the Latin American cultures and want to immerse myself in their way of life and learn Spanish as well. I love working with children and have hands-on experience through my own family, my school, tutoring, teaching swim lessons, and nannying. Through the volunteer program at Amigos, I have the opportunity to live my faith, learn the culture, and love the children.

Duties

This year my primary jobs are teaching preschool and teaching English to level1 of the EducaTodos program. I am also leading an afternoon club and assisting with medical work and photography. At nights and on weekends, I am assigned to a boy’s dorm where I eat dinner, help out with homework, and play.
