Savanah Prigge, 2016-2018 volunteer
Graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in food science and a minor in mathematics.
Before arriving at Amigos, I was a college student. I’m from a small town in Idaho and enjoy spending time with family, playing volleyball, teaching swimming lessons, hiking, reading, and traveling.
Motivation for coming to Amigos
I am blessed to have grown up in a Catholic family, and as my faith matured during college, I felt the call to give of myself in long-term service and to serve His children. I’ve always been interested in the Latin American cultures and want to immerse myself in their way of life and learn Spanish as well. Through the volunteer program at Amigos, I have the opportunity to live my faith, learn the culture, and love the children.
I’m excited to continue serving at Amigos de Jesus for an additional 6 months. This year I am serving as a preschool teacher and I am in charge of the ‘padrino’ (child sponsorship) program on the Honduras side. I will also be making videos to share on social media and teaching an afterschool activities class. At nights and on weekends, I am assigned to a boy’s dorm where I eat dinner, help out with homework, and play.
